Nestled in the charming town of Hiddenite, NC, The Emerald Hill Wedding Venue offers a gorgeous setting for a wedding celebration. Just an hour north of Charlotte, this elegant venue is perfect for couples seeking timeless beauty with a touch of modern elegance. I had the pleasure of photographing Savannah and Hunter’s winter wedding recently and it was the epitome of classy holiday charm, featuring lush evergreens, pine cones, and white florals that created a cozy and festive atmosphere.
The Perfect Setting for a Wedding
One of the standout features of The Emerald Hill Wedding Venue is its breathtaking outdoor setting. As an ideal NC destination wedding venue, the property offers couples the option to host their ceremony in a variety of stunning locations. In addition to the breathtaking views for its outdoor spots, the venue is known for its versatile indoor spaces. Because of the chilly, December weather, Savannah and Hunter decided to move the ceremony indoors. At first, I was a little bummed that we didn’t have a pond view for the ceremony, but I was so excited when I saw the beautiful setting of the indoor barn space! Gorgeous chandeliers, classic white drapery, lighted trees, and golden chairs accented with greenery that perfectly fit with Savannah and Hunter’s classy holiday theme. The warm tones of the evergreens paired with crisp white florals that made the space festive with a touch of elegance. Many venues don’t have a space available that’s big enough for the ceremony in the event of rain or chilly weather, but The Emerald Hill is an incredible venue in the fact that they other both indoor and outdoor spaces that are both stunningly beautiful.
Gorgeous Bridal Suites
One thing I’d love to talk about is the getting ready spaces! The venue also boasts exceptional preparation suites for the bridal party. I have seen A LOT of bridal suites during my yeas as a wedding photographer, and I can honestly say that The Emerald Hill’s getting ready spaces are one of the best! Spacious and bathed in natural light (massive photography win!), the bridal suite features vintage Victorian couches, elegant decor, and plenty of comfortable seating, which made it the ideal space for Savannah and her bridesmaids to prepare for the big day. Having a space that is beautiful and functional is SO important. You will be spending most of your morning in the suite getting ready with your bridesmaids and this is where your getting ready photos take place, so having such an amazing suite made for gorgeous photos and for an amazing experience for Savannah during the first part of her day.
Meanwhile, Hunter and his groomsmen enjoyed the groom’s suite, which was equally impressive. Many groom’s suites are on the smaller side, but not at this venue! Its large size, cozy leather chairs, and even a pool table provided the perfect blend of relaxation and fun.
Heartfelt Moments and Stunning Photography
Savannah and Hunter incorporated so many personal touches that made their day unforgettable. Savannah shared a touching first look with her father in the field overlooking the beautiful foothills of NC. Later, she met Hunter in the same field for a private first look and vow reading—a moment that captured the beauty of their relationship. I absolutely love first looks. It is always so much fun for me, as a photographer, to capture all the love, smiles, and happy tears that come from this intimate moment. Savannah and Hunter were so excited to see each other for the first time that more than one or two happy tears were shed! And I am so grateful that we had easy access to a picture perfect location to capture this sweet moment!
Although the ceremony was indoors, we braved the chilly temperatures and ventured outside for sunset photos just down the road. The setting winter sun cast a soft glow over the mountains, creating the perfect romantic backdrop for their wedding! We had the mountains behind us and gorgeous fields on either side, making it a perfect picture location for their romantic couples photos. Because it was so chilly, we didn’t spend too long outside, but we didn’t need to because Savannah and Hunter were absolute naturals for photos! I love it when couples choose to do an engagement session, because it always helps them feel much more relaxed in front of the camera for their wedding day.
A Celebration to Remember
The staff quickly flipped the room after the ceremony, setting up additional tables and opening up a space for the dance floor. The reception carried on the theme of subtle holiday elegance, with warm lighting and tasteful decor setting the mood for the evening. Hunter’s dance with his mom, and then his stepmom, was such a sweet moment that really showed the love and strong family bonds they were celebrating that day. Their guests had SO much fun dancing the night away on the dancefloor and when it was time for their big exit, Savannah and Hunter’s controlled LED light exit was so much fun! It was such a modern and unique way to wrap up the night and send Savannah and Hunter off into their new life together!
