If you’re searching for the perfect Charleston wedding venue, let me introduce you to the stunning Legare Waring House. Nestled in the heart of Charles Towne Landing, this historic estate is the definition of Southern charm. Laurel and Ken’s summer wedding here in South Carolina was nothing short of magical, and I’m so excited to share the details of their incredible day!
A Venue Steeped in Natural Beauty
Legare Waring House is truly one of the most breathtaking places to say “I do.” With its iconic avenue of oaks, moss-draped oak trees, and the romantic ambiance of Spanish moss swaying in the breeze, it’s easy to see why so many couples fall in love with this spot. The lush gardens, sprawling lawns, and the beautiful Ashley River in the background create the perfect setting for a dreamy wedding day. One of the best things about having a venue that is THIS beautiful is that you don’t need much to “dress up” the venue and make it ready for your wedding day. A Legare waring house wedding is gorgeous enough all on its own!
Stunning Indoor Spaces & Modern Amenities
While the outdoor spaces are undeniably breathtaking, the indoor spaces at Legare Waring House are equally gorgeous. The first floor of the house is incredibly spacious and is a perfect spot for family members to hang out while you and your partner get ready. The dressing room where Laurel got ready was bright and elegant, providing the perfect backdrop for those special getting-ready moments. The chandelier and the old Victorian couch made for some gorgeous getting ready photos! It was truly a photographer’s dream. They did not skimp on the groom’s suite either! The groom’s quarters also offered a comfortable and stylish space for Ken and his groomsmen to relax before the ceremony. The venue also offers modern amenities while maintaining its historic charm, making it an ideal choice for couples who want the best of both worlds.
A Romantic First Look Under the Oaks
Speaking as a wedding photographer here – there are SO many amazing spots if you plan on sharing a first look or a first touch with your partner. Laurel and Ken started their big day with a first look under the towering oak trees. With the soft golden light filtering through the branches, the moment was absolutely magical. The love and excitement between them were so evident—it was a joy to capture! One of the best parts about having a Legare Waring House wedding is that there are so many stunning spots for intimate moments like this! It was really hard to decide on a spot for their first look because even the parking area of this venue is picturesque!
A Ceremony Under the Wedding Oak
For their ceremony, Laurel and Ken exchanged vows beneath the breathtaking Wedding Oak, a grand tree draped in Spanish moss that has stood for centuries. With their closest family and friends gathered around, they promised forever to each other in the most enchanting setting. The shade of the mossy oak trees was perfect for the warm June day. One of the things I love about this venue is that it feels intimate and private, yet grand at the same time.
Kid & Dog Friendly – A Perfect Place for Family
One of the unique aspects of Legare Waring House is how welcoming it is for families—including the four-legged kind! Laurel and Ken’s two golden retrievers were not just guests; they were part of the wedding party! Seeing them trot down the aisle with bows on their collars was the cutest thing ever. They even got to be included in family photos! If you’re looking for a Charleston wedding venue that embraces pets and kids, this is the place.
A Picturesque Cocktail Hour & Wedding Photos
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour in the manicured gardens of Charles Towne Landing, sipping drinks under the twinkling lights and soaking in the romantic ambiance. Meanwhile, we wandered around the property for wedding photos, and let me tell you—everywhere you turn at Legare Waring House, there’s another stunning backdrop! From the lush gardens to the charming side of the house, each spot added to the romance of the day. As the sun began to set, we captured dreamy golden-hour portraits by the wrought-iron water fountain and the pond, with the light reflecting off the water in the most beautiful way. Finally, we ended the evening near the grand wrought-iron gates, creating timeless images that truly captured the essence of their love.
