Is there anything more amazing than having a photoshoot in Japan!? On a recent trip to Japan, we captured some stunning images of Cam and Maura at a few of many beautiful locations in the Land of the Rising Sun.
First Stop: Fushimi Inari Taisha
Our first stop was in Fushimi Inari Taisha in southern Kyoto. This shrine sits at the base of the mountain and a path lined with approximately 10,000 bright orange Torii gates will take you to the top of Mt. Inari. Because this is a very popular and iconic spot, we decided to wake up early in the morning so that we could get there as the sun was rising to experience the shrine with less crowds and in the gorgeous morning light. Let me tell you, Fushimi Inari Taisha did not disappoint! While we still ran into quite a lot of other visitors enjoying the shrine, it was so amazing to see it in the beautiful sunrise light and getting there early gave us the opportunity to take our time admiring everything as we made our way to the top of the mountain!
Second Stop: Kasuga Park
While we were more than happy to visit Japan at any time of the year, we were super that we were able to plan this trip when the cherry trees were in bloom! The gorgeous Sakura are a photographer’s dream (you all know I love my flowers!) and we were so excited to experience the beauty firsthand.
The blooms were a little late this year due to some unseasonably cold weather, so instead of catching them in Tokyo like we originally planned, we didn’t see them in all of their full-bloomed glory until our stop in the Kyushu area. They were more than worth the wait! We stopped at Kasuga Park in Fukuoka as we were on our way further down south to Hiji and captured some amazing photos of Cam and Maura among all the blooming cherry trees!
