When Deven and Ells talked to me about their engagement session, the first thing they said they wanted was an urban vibe. Interesting architecture, bright lights, and a city skyline view were must-haves as the backdrop for the images that they wanted to tell their love story. Luckily, there are so many amazing engagement photo locations in Charlotte, NC. In just 90 minutes, we were able to cross everything they wanted off the list and then some. Their session showcased the incredible variety of stunning locations in uptown Charlotte, highlighting the city’s charm and the couple’s unique connection. From serene parks to vibrant urban settings, each spot contributed to making their engagement photos truly memorable.
Marshall Park
We started at Marshall Park, a popular spot in uptown Charlotte. The park’s greenery, small pond, and gorgeous view of the Charlotte skyline offered a great backdrop for this session. With its open spaces and scenic views, Marshall Park provided a relaxed environment for photographing their genuine interactions and natural expressions. It’s a versatile location that highlights the couple’s connection while showcasing the charm of Charlotte, NC, and a huge bonus is another beautiful spot (the courthouse) is just a 3 minute walk away!
The Courthouse
Next, we visited the historic courthouse just a short walk from the park. The courthouse’s elegant architecture provided a timeless backdrop, adding a touch of sophistication to their engagement photos. The large, white columns are a personal favorite of mine. They photograph beautifully and add some interesting architectural elements that really allowed Deven and Ells to shine!
South End Parking Garage
Our next stop was a South End parking garage, which turned out to be an ideal spot for capturing the Charlotte skyline. The garage’s rooftop provided a clear, expansive view of the city, enhancing our photos with a striking urban backdrop. We had the place to ourselves, which allowed us to focus fully on Deven and Ells. Plus, being so close to our other locations made it easy to transition smoothly between different settings for their engagement photos!
Pins Mechanical Co.
One of the most special moments of the session was capturing photos at Pins Mechanical Co., the place where Deven and Ells first met. This location was more than just a backdrop; it was a significant part of their love story. As it turns out, Pins has some nice spots to create beautiful images! Their rooftop had a stunning view of the city skyline and the swings on the ground level made for some really sweet images!
Sunset Strolls and Sweet Treats
As evening set in, we strolled through South End, taking advantage of the beautiful dusk light for Deven and Ells’ engagement photos. We wrapped up our session outside Jeni’s Ice Cream, a spot that added a cozy, romantic touch to the photos. The neon lights created a warm, glowing backdrop that perfectly highlighted Deven and Ells’ connection, making these final shots a heartfelt end to their session.
