Best Fall Charlotte Engagement Spots – Caroline & Derek

Caroline and Derek sit underneath the big, yellow, gingko tree in Marshall Park. It's fall and the vibrant colors surround them while they laugh at each other.

Marshall Park

When it comes to fall Charlotte engagement spots, one of my absolute favorite spots is Marshall Park. Nestled in the heart of uptown Charlotte, this charming park offers a combination of natural beauty and urban vibes. I had the pleasure of photographing Caroline and Derek’s engagement session here recently, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

We met bright and early for a sunrise session on a crisp, chilly morning. It was a super chilly morning (especially since we Charlotteans are used to a warm fall!), but Caroline and Derek were absolute troopers. They were able to laugh with each other and were so natural in front of the camera, making my job as their photographer a breeze. Plus, the reward for braving the early hours was well worth it—golden light, easy parking, and an empty park!

One of my favorite parts of Marshall Park in the fall is its massive gingko tree that sits in the middle of the park. In autumn, its leaves turn a brilliant yellow, creating a vibrant canopy that is magical. It served as a stunning backdrop for many of Caroline and Derek’s photos, and they looked right at home beneath its golden glow. Beyond the gingko tree, Marshall Park’s picturesque bridge, pond, and vibrant fall foliage made it the perfect backdrop for their session!

Another highlight of this session was the skyline view. Marshall Park offers one of the best vantage points to capture Charlotte’s iconic skyline, especially in the early morning when the city is quiet and bathed in soft light.

Mecklenburg County Courthouse

After spending time at Marshall Park, we walked over to the courthouse for a few shots with a more modern, structured vibe. The courthouse’s marble columns photograph beautifully and it’s such a huge plus that they are just across the street from the park! It’s so nice to have cool architecture, the city skyline, and gorgeous ponds, bridge, and trees all in pretty much one spot!

If you’re searching for the perfect fall Charlotte engagement spots, Marshall Park should be at the top of your list. Between its vibrant fall foliage, iconic skyline views, and peaceful atmosphere, it’s a dream location for couples wanting timeless, romantic photos.
