If you love Uptown Charlotte engagement photos, you are going to adore Alyssa and Matthew’s beautiful city filled session. These two wanted the heart of the city in their images and we picked some magical skyscraper-filled backdrops to celebrate their engagement! Even though we hoped for golden hour, the clouds rolled in and gave us soft light instead which worked wonderfully for this elegant urban vibe. As a wedding photographer in the Charlotte area, I know how to work with shifting light and the results were absolutely worth it!
Alyssa and Matthew are such an amazing couple. I knew from the first time we talked that working with them would be a delight. On the day of their photo session, my childcare fell through and I told them I would need to either reschedule or bring my daughter. Without hesitation they said it was no problem at all. Alyssa’s sister came along and kept Juniper entertained which allowed us to carry on with our plans. I felt so grateful and these two were unfazed by Juniper’s silly baby squeals in between shutter clicks! This is just one of the many reasons I truly cannot wait for their wedding day!
We started the session at the federal courthouse which is one of my favorite places for Charlotte engagement session photos. The white columns create such elegant lines and the architecture adds depth and drama to every angle. It is a picturesque spot that works beautifully for couples who love a refined and classy aesthetic. Even on a cloudy afternoon, the building lit up their images with clean tones and timeless style.
From there, it’s a short walking distance to The Crown of Queen City apartments, but since it started to rain, we opted to drive instead. One of Alyssa’s friends lives there and told her that the resident lounge would be a perfect spot for modern, sophisticated photos. She could not have been more right. The lounge offered a faux bar that looked incredibly realistic which made it feel like we stepped into a chic scene in a new city. There was also a velvet green couch that photographed like a dream and gave us a warm, intimate look for some of their portraits. And of course we had to take advantage of the rooftop view which gave us a breathtaking look at the Charlotte skyline! The skyline is one of the beautiful backdrops that makes promising Uptown Charlotte engagement photos so exciting.
The area around The Crown of Queen City is full of great spots and some of the best locations for couples who want variety. We were close to Marshall Park and Romare Bearden Park, both of which are places I often recommend for couples planning engagement sessions in North Carolina. Each offers its own charm and can easily be combined with other city scenes in the heart of Charlotte. The entire uptown area gives couples endless opportunities for engagement photos that feel stylish and full of personality.
Alyssa and Matthew moved through each space with so much ease. Every moment felt natural and joyful. As I watched them laugh together in front of the city skyline, I was reminded why I love creating Uptown Charlotte engagement photos for couples who adore the city life. These two brought so much warmth and authenticity to every frame. They are truly a beautiful couple and I know their big day will be extraordinary!
