Casual Engagement Photos in Charlotte NC: Aavanth and Trinity

If you’re looking for casual engagement photos in Charlotte NC that feel relaxed and true to who you are as a couple, Aavanth and Trinity’s session is exactly the kind of inspiration I love sharing! They met at UNC Charlotte and are both from the Mooresville area, and from the second they showed up, I could tell this was going to be a laid back, sweet, no pressure kind of evening.

Aavanth and Trinity told me upfront that they were nervous. They both said they worried they’d feel awkward in front of the camera, which is honestly one of the most common things I hear from couples before a session. I always reassure couples that it’s totally normal to feel a little bit weird in front of the camera. It’s weirder if you didn’t feel weird! But my goal is for you to feel totally relaxed and having fun within the first 10 minutes! Within the first few minutes though, they were laughing, holding each other close, and completely forgetting the camera was even there. That’s the goal! I want couples to feel like they’re just spending time together, not performing for photos.

Their outfits were the perfect match for the relaxed, natural vibe they were going for. Trinity wore a soft white dress with delicate puff sleeves, and Aavanth kept it simple in a cream polo and light jeans. Neutral tones like this are one of my favorite recommendations for couples wanting casual engagement photos, since they photograph beautifully against Charlotte’s mix of brick, greenery, and skyline without competing with the background.

We shot near Romare Bearden Park and along the brick crosswalks by 7th Street, weaving between the park’s stone walls and the charm of the surrounding shops. Golden hour hit just right, and it gave every frame that warm, soft glow that makes natural engagement photos feel timeless.

Here’s the fun part of this story though. We rescheduled this session THREE separate times because of rain. When the day finally came, it was STILL raining that morning, and we almost called it off a fourth time. Aavanth and Trinity decided to go for it anyway, and it turned out to be one of the most beautiful evenings I’ve photographed all year! Sometimes the sessions you almost cancel end up being the ones you’re proudest of (and don’t worry, I have clear umbrellas if your session calls for rain! Check out Meagan and Seth’s rainy day engagement session – it’s one of my favorites!)

Aavanth and Trinity actually won this session through a giveaway I offered at My Favorite Bridal Show, hosted by Events by Victoria, a wedding planner in the greater Charlotte area. I love offering a free engagement session giveaway at bridal shows because it’s such a fun way to meet couples early in their planning process, and sessions like this one are exactly why I keep doing it. I had a blast getting to know them and taking pictures in the Queen City!
