When it comes to celebrating love, few settings rival the tranquil beauty of a beach. As a Charlotte native and a Charlotte Wedding Photographer, I am very familiar with the North Carolina coast! I came from a family that LOVED the beach, so I spent my summers all along the east coast both in North and South Carolina. When Katie and Jeffrey, also being beach lovers, decided to ditch the courthouse wedding for a beautiful elopement at the beach, I was all in!
Against the backdrop of pristine shores and breathtaking sunsets, their love story unfolded, creating memories that would be cherished for a lifetime. Katie and Jeffrey’s original plan was to get married at the courthouse in their hometown. When Katie told her close friends and her family about their plan for a simple courthouse wedding, they suggested instead that she and Jeffrey elope at their favorite place, the beach. Katie’s grandmother owns a house right on the sound and the beach is just a quick walk away, making it the perfect spot to have their beach wedding day! Katie set to work planning and was able to put the entire day together in less than two weeks!
After they both were finished getting ready, Katie and Jeffrey decided to share a first touch and a first look before their ceremony. We found a unique angle on the side of the house for their first touch and positioned them with the sound in the background for their first look!
With close family and friends gathered, they exchanged vows on the pristine sandy beach. During their ceremony, Katie, Jeffrey, and their two boys participated in a unity sand ceremony, where everyone took turns pouring different colored sand into a jar, signifying the joining and creation of a new union and family. Against the endless expanse of the sea, with loved ones around, Katie and Jeffrey pledge their love for each other and were officially married!
After there ceremony, we stayed behind at the beach to capture some glowing portraits of the newly weds! The sun was shining, the weather was perfect, and we had every photographer’s dream, an (almost) completely empty beach all to ourselves to capture some gorgeous couple’s portraits!
The sunset that evening proved to be absolutely breath-taking. We found a quiet, sandy spot for some golden hour images and were able to catch the beautiful sunset colors from Katie’s grandmother’s dock on the sound side. As much as a love being a photographer in Charlotte, these magical views are just something you can’t get there!
Katie and Jeffrey’s wedding day was one of the most special weddings I’ve ever seen. Their love for each other was a beautiful sight to see and I am so happy I was able to capture their big day for them! Congratulations Katie and Jeffrey! Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness!
