What a gorgeous day for photos! Elaina and Nathan wanted an urban feel to their engagement images. Being a Charlotte North Carolina Wedding Photographer (and also a Charlotte native, aka a “unicorn”) I knew Uptown Charlotte was the spot for us. The a lot of the architecture in uptown is really interesting and many parks have a great view of the skyline!
Elaina sent me wishlist of some shots that she wanted to get for her gallery and I was happy to oblige! We looked specifically for pretty columns, interesting stairs, and nice places with a good view of the Charlotte skyline in the background.
Our first stop was Marshall Park. This one is one of my favorites in the spring and the fall! The park has a lovely fountain with a great view of the skyline. Although the skyline is gorgeous, my favorite part about Marshall Park is the trees! The cherry trees by the pond bloom in March and are gorgeous! In the fall, the massive Gingko tree in the middle of the park turns bright yellow. It’s probably one of the prettiest trees I’ve ever seen! Luckily, we caught the Gingko tree in all it’s fall glory!
Our next stop, which happened to be right across the street, was the Mecklenburg County Courthouse. The building has some gorgeous columns that were perfect for our session!
We walked a little while to our next destination, stopping along the way under some beautiful red trees for a few shots. We ended up at French Quarter and Romare Bearden Park. I’ve lived in Charlotte, NC my entire life and I’d never been to the French Quarter! The skyscrapers looming in the background of this beautiful alleyway made it a perfect spot for some romantic shots.
Our last stop was the Mint Museum. The stairs leading up the the building were beautiful! I love a good set of stairs for some sweet, romantic portraits!
I had such a fantastic time walking around Uptown Charlotte with Elaina and Nathan. They are such a sweet couple and I really enjoyed getting to capture their love for each other in the city that I love. I can’t wait for their wedding this October!
